The Grosbreuil platform enables you to recycle your compostable waste and then, if you wish, recover compost.

You can also bring in your green waste, and pick up shredded material.

Panneau

The Grosbreuil platform is an association under the law of 1901 created in 2009. It wasn't planned, yet it's now been up and running for over 17 years.

It's a group of volunteers from the commune of Grosbreuil and the communauté de communes de Vendée Grand Littoral (then known as Communes du Talmondais).

Each has a distinct role:

The association's volunteers are responsible for upkeep, maintenance, and associated activities such as trocplant's, trocgraines, and activities with schools. They are also on hand every Wednesday (since early 2024) and Saturday, weighing and recording members' deposits.

The commune of Grosbreuil lends a plot of land, and local employees bring in green waste from time to time, as well as waste from the school canteen. The communauté de commune finances the monthly use of the shredder and the windrow turner every 3 weeks, as well as our supply of biobuckets.

Here's how it works :

It is organised by an association that brings together the various people behind the project, and volunteer neighbourhood relays (intermediaries between the association and local residents) who are on duty when the platform is open.

Take your fermentable waste to the bin and you will be doing your bit by:

  • reducing the amount of waste that needs to be processed (25 to 30% of our bins)putting an end to unpleasant odours in our bins
  • reducing pollution.
  • Fermentable waste is the main source of pollution in landfill sites. Collective composting is the key to reducing landfill waste.

Since 2024, in accordance with the AGEC law, local authorities have been required to offer a solution for recycling organic waste to all households (domestic composting, collective composting or separate collection).

Household food waste is no longer considered to be waste to be discarded, but must be systematically recycled through composting.

IN PRACTICE :

  1. I weigh my bio-waste.
  2. I tell the volunteer on duty the weight.
  3. Empty your bio-bucket into the bio-receptacle.
  4. I cover my waste with 3 volumes of shredded material.
  5. Rinse my biosludge bucket and empty it into the heap.

The following must not be deposited

  • Plastics
  • Twine
  • Scrap metal
  • Animal litter
  • Dead animals.

We accept :

  • Leftovers from meals
  • Vegetable peelings
  • Coffee grounds with filter, tea
  • Unprinted kitchen towels

Our association's objectives are clear :

  • We will raise awareness of compostable waste recycling
  • Initiate the sharing of surplus

Our membership fee of €2 covers our day-to-day costs, without putting a strain on our members' wallets.
We are committed to shifting away from a 'consumer' mindset and instead focus on fostering exchanges, sharing and a social approach between members, whether gardeners or not.

For each event, we call on people of goodwill to help, or occasionally ask for a contribution to the costs, as for our picnic.
