♻️ Community composting

How does the composting site work?

The Grosbreuil community composting platform is open to all local residents. Here's how to get involved in just a few simple steps.

1
Collect your food waste

Vegetable peelings, coffee grounds, eggshells, leftovers, wilted flowers… Keep them in your kitchen caddy at home.

2
Bring it to the platform

Drop off your caddy during one of our open sessions (Wednesdays and Saturdays, 10am–12pm). A volunteer will welcome and guide you.

3
Nature does the rest

Your waste is mixed into the compost row with wood chippings (1 caddy to 3 volumes of chippings). Heat and micro-organisms take care of the rest!

4
Collect your compost

A few months later, you can pick up finished compost for your garden — a free, natural, locally-made fertiliser!

⚠️ Windrow Alert

Is the windrow not heating up? The most likely cause is a lack of carbon. Wood chips are essential to balance the nitrogen-rich food scraps. Please always respect:1 part caddy waste  +  3 parts wood chips
